Sujet de thèse : Improving the low frequency sound absorption of the porous materials in a limited space and weight.

 

Résumé du projet de thèse en anglais : The objective of this short range project is to improve the low frequency sound absorption of the porous materials in a limited space and weight. The proposed project uses numerical homogenization techniques. It is basically divided into three major parts. (1) Starting from a commercially available porous material, the first step consists in the identification of the characteristic local geometry features, in order to reconstruct a microstructural model, representative of the sound absorption properties. (2) Based on this model, we will then examine the effect of local characteristic lengths modifications on the low frequency sound absorption. Additional local geometry features may also be considered to stimulate innovation. (3) Finally, a prototype of the microstructure leading to improved low frequency sound absorption will be manufactured thanks to additive fabrication and/or collaboration with material manufacturers.
